Make Something Beautiful - Day 48
It's done--12,000 jump rings, 6,000 scales, 10 leather straps and countless hours of work. Yes, I put the finishing touches on my scale mail jacket today. I feel a mix of relief at having finished something that consumed a good portion of my life and the sense of loss of no longer having that project take over my life. There's always the Tiamat dress...

ReplyDeleteI'm simply awestruck. I'm just an aspiring amateur, but this is one of the most amazing pieces I have ever seen! Be proud! I don't see much chain mail outerwear, much less anything that combines professionally sexy and sophisticatedly bad ass the way you've achieved, this gets a 13 out of ten in style points. The collar is a great touch. I don't think I'm going to be happy now until I try making my own jacket, its going to keep itching until I learn! I love how it almost looks to be one piece. Would you be willing to share what size materials and weave you used, and how and where you incorporated the straps?
